Veneers. Let that smile shine!

cosmetic dentistry near me

By smiling, you are influencing how other people perceive you. Plenty of studies have shown that when you smile, you appear more attractive  to other people because the physical act of smiling affects the part of the brain that regulates your emotions.

Studies have also shown that people consider you more trustworthy when you make eye contact with them and smile. Others will naturally respond to your smile.

The benefits of smiling are hard to resist.

An unhealthy smile unfortunately isn’t going to have the same positive effect than healthy pearly whites will. Make sure you are practicing good oral hygiene and are seeing your dentist for cleaning and check ups. If you find yourself worried about how your smile looks or experience a lot of mouth pain, then it is time to do something about it.

Whether your teeth are not as white as they could be or you have crooked or missing teeth, there are solutions for you. Set up a consultation appointment with our dentist Yury Gershfeld, DDS who specializes in cosmetic dentistry and find out what your options are.

What are teeth veneers anyway?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. As a cosmetic dental procedure, dental veneers create a brighter, whiter smile composed of more perfectly aligned and shapely teeth.

Veneers are sometimes placed for cosmetic reasons alone, rather than for necessary health purposes. The translucent quality of today’s porcelain veneers provides a more natural look than what has been available to past generations. This allows a beautiful and natural looking smile. Porcelain material is a perfect solution for the demands of your teeth.

Placing custom teeth veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail, and we are proud to say that we, at NoHo Family Dental have over 25 years of experience in this field and thousand of veneers placed.

Am I a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

The best candidates for dental veneers are men and women who are unhappy with the appearance of their smiles and who are not experiencing oral health issues such as tooth decay, gum disease or oral cancer. If you have a preexisting oral health issue, Dr. Gershfeld will need to address the problem before veneers can be considered.

If you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your teeth, you may not want to smile, or you may cover your mouth with your hand or shy away from social interactions.

The way you feel about your smile has the capacity to affect all corners of your life, from your desire to pose for photos to your feelings of self-confidence in a professional setting. Dental veneers can improve your entire smile over the course of just a few dental appointments.

Will the veneers look like normal teeth?

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

My next step?

Before you get your veneers, you’ll have a preliminary appointment with Dr. Gershfeld to discuss which options are right for you and how many veneers you want to have placed.

Doctor will often take X-rays at this stage to evaluate your teeth’s health. We’ll look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or the need for root canals.

To get accurate sizing for your veneers, at the next appointment, your dentist trims down about a half a millimeter of your tooth (they remove the enamel using a grinding tool) before they take a mold (impression) of your teeth. This mold is then sent off to the lab for the creation of your veneers.

It typically takes between one and two weeks after your dentist creates your mold to get your veneers back from the lab.

Once your veneers are in, you can schedule an appointment to have them placed. At this appointment, Dr. Gershfeld evaluates the fit, shape, and coloration of the veneers to make sure they’re perfect for you.

Next, your dentist thoroughly cleans your teeth. This is important, as it keeps bacteria from being trapped under the veneer and causing decay. After they do this, they use the grinding tool to create a rougher texture on each tooth on which a veneer is to be applied. This makes it easier for the veneer to stick to the tooth.

Your dentist then uses a dental cement to bind the veneer to the tooth. They’ll use ultraviolet light to harden this cement quickly, and once you leave the office, your new smile is ready to go!

At NoHo Family Dental we will be very happy to assist you with all your dental needs, we have over 25 years of experience and a lot of passion to create beautiful smiles and make people happier!
